Educational Opportunities

Empowerment. Encouragement. Recognition.

The Navy SEAL Foundation empowers active-duty NSW personnel, their spouses, and children, as well as our SEAL and SWCC post-9/11 veterans, by awarding scholarships for higher education. We also support quality education options for dependent children in geographically separated duty locations where choices matter to the overall success of the student. Additionally, the Foundation provides funding for standardized college entrance exams for qualified transitioning NSW service members.

The educational support we provide augments funding accessible through Navy programs and provides additional financial resources that would not otherwise be available. Your support of our mission helps to ensure members of the NSW community can pursue educational goals that are as crucial in the military as they are in the civilian world.

  • Active Duty NSW families stationed in Hawaii, Guam, Stennis or Kodiak may apply.
  • Active Duty NSW families with children who are eligible to attend Kindergarten within their respective state through 12th grade may apply for assistance with one (1) of the following programs: Private School Tuition, Supplemental Tutoring or Homeschool Grant.
  • Active Duty NSW families with children eligible for Pre-K may apply. The child must be enrolled in a Pre-K program to prepare the child for Kindergarten the following school year.
  • The Pre-K grant does NOT cover daycare.
  • Educational Grants DO NOT cover before or after school care.

What NSF Covers

  • Private School Tuition
  • Supplemental Tutoring
  • Homeschool Grant

Pre-K Private School Grants: Award amounts are 50% of the annual tuition up to a maximum amount of $4,000 per school year, per child. The child must be old enough to attend Kindergarten within their respective state the following school year.

Kindergarten-12th-grade Private School Grants: Award amounts are 70% of the annual tuition up to a maximum amount of $7,000 per school year, per child.

When your application is submitted in full, it will be reviewed and approved by the Foundation’s Programs team. The Navy SEAL Foundation evaluates all applications based on eligibility. Once the application is approved and all follow-up paperwork is received, Private School Grant funding is paid directly to the school before the commencement of the Fall semester.

If you already receive financial aid for your child, you may want to ensure that receipt of this grant does not affect the awarded amount from the school. You will need to upload a tuition statement from the school that shows the annual tuition amount. Grant funding covers tuition only; it does not cover associated costs for uniforms, books, school fees, etc.

Supplemental Tutoring Grants: Award amounts for 50% coverage of tutoring expenses up to a maximum amount of $2,500 per calendar year, per child. Applications for tutoring coverage are open year round. However, a new application must be submitted every calendar year for review and approval.

Kindergarten-12th Grade Homeschool Grants: Award amounts are 50% reimbursement of the approved expenses related to curriculum, annual testing and membership for professional homeschooling organizations up to a maximum amount of $2,500 per academic year, per child.

Homeschool Grant reimbursements are paid directly to the Homeschool provider once an application is submitted (with payment receipts), reviewed, and approved. The Navy SEAL Foundation evaluates all applications based on eligibility.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Navy SEAL Foundation Executive Board and Scholarship Committee for awarding me such a generous scholarship. I am truly honored and humbled to receive such substantial support from the SEAL Community. I appreciate it not only as a source of support but a strong affirmation of the strong bonds of brotherhood and care for families that my dad often talks about.”
