Legacy

About Our Legacy Pillar

We honor the fallen and stand with their loved ones through compassion, connection, and ongoing support. Retreats and camps for Gold Star and Surviving Families (GSSF) provide space for healing and bonding with others who share their journey. Long-term financial assistance provides stability through counseling, childcare, recovery stipends, household services, and educational resources for kids. Resiliency initiatives equip young people with technology, mentorship, and command-engaged gatherings that reinforce belonging and personal growth. Through heritage preservation efforts, we safeguard memories, ensure the sacrifices of those we lost are never forgotten, and help uphold the enduring legacy of the NSW community across generations.

Programs

Survivor Retreats

We offer opportunities for GSSF to heal and grow through wellness weekends and specialized camps. These gatherings provide space to step away from daily demands, focus on recovery, and connect with others who share a similar journey and experiences. Teen camps foster leadership, confidence, and peer connection during critical stages of development. By combining rest, reflection, and skill building, these programs help loved ones move forward with strength while honoring those they’ve lost.

Financial Assistance

We provide comprehensive financial support to families in the NSW community during times of need, ensuring they have the resources to navigate hardship. Dedicated to the long-term care of GSSF, our assistance includes weekly grief counseling, supplemental childcare, wellness stipends, home maintenance support, and educational grants for kids. By addressing their immediate and ongoing needs, we help households find stability and sustain well-being in the face of loss or difficult challenges.

Resiliency Support

We support GSSF through mentorship, skills development, and access to essential resources that promote stability, resilience, and growth. Initiatives such as providing children and young adults with laptops help them succeed academically and build confidence despite their loss. We also host regular, command-engaged gatherings that foster connection, reinforce belonging, and ensure participants maintain meaningful relationships within a trusted network they can rely on as they move forward.

Heritage Preservation

We honor the sacrifice of the fallen by ensuring their memories are preserved and celebrated with the utmost dignity. Support includes legal guidance for GSSF, remembrance gifts such as flowers on significant dates, and assistance with historic preservation projects that safeguard the community’s heritage. Through these efforts, we provide loved ones with comfort, help to maintain the enduring legacy of NSW, and ensure that future generations remember, understand, and respect their service.

Thank you so much for this opportunity... I have learned a ton from the different modalities and think that I have grown during this program. I would and have recommended this to a ton of friends both on active duty and retired. One of the more important aspects of this program was the NSF briefs which included videos and a venue to talk about different concerns within the community whether being mental health or retirement.

And I'm convinced that we are able to take extra risks and efforts. We mitigate risk as much as we can but all of our guys are comfortable knowing that they have the support of another family with the Navy SEAL Foundation behind them that allows them to be comfortable. Because if they get injured, they know that there are other resources there.
