The Navy SEAL Foundation’s (NSF) Warrior Fitness Program (WFP), created and operated in partnership with Virginia High Performance (VHP), is a comprehensive rehabilitation and performance optimization initiative for the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) community. Originally aimed at helping transitioning SEALs and SWCCs recalibrate after service, the WFP has evolved into one of the NSF’s most impactful programs, serving active duty personnel recovering from injuries as well as veterans facing long-term challenges.
The demands of NSW take a lasting toll. Years of high-intensity training, combat operations, and deployments often lead to:
The WFP addresses these issues through a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach. Participants receive individualized care from strength and conditioning coaches, performance dietitians, speech-language pathologists, chiropractors, and specialists in recovery, breathing, and mindfulness practices. Delivered over 4–6 weeks at state-of-the-art facilities in Virginia Beach, VA and San Diego, CA, the program includes:
Participation in the WFP continues to grow. In 2024, more than 350 NSW personnel completed the program, a nearly 55% increase from the prior year. Even with expanded capacity, demand still exceeds availability, resulting in a waitlist of four to six months. Participants report reduced pain, better sleep, improved cognitive performance, and renewed hope for the future. Just as importantly, the program fosters camaraderie and connection, reminding warriors that they are never alone.
* This program is powered in part by Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) to honor and empower post-9/11 injured service members, veterans, and their families.
The WFP embodies the NSF’s commitment to sustaining the health and resilience of NSW warriors and veterans. By investing in their recovery and long-term well-being, we honor their service and ensure they can continue to live with strength, purpose, and dignity.
“I can’t express enough how grateful I am to have attended this program. After 31+ years of service, every bit of my body was beaten up and broken. I lost my ability to workout because of pain and I was relying on prescription pain medications to get through the day. I feel like I have gained my life back and once again feel positive about doing the things I loved to do.”
