Since 2010, Alexandria Real Estate Equities (ARE) has been one of the Navy SEAL Foundation’s (NSF) most committed partners. Their support has been central to the growth of the Warrior Fitness Program (WFP) led by Virginia High Performance, one of the most impactful health and performance initiatives serving the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) community. It’s a partnership that continues to deliver life-changing outcomes for the warriors and veterans who need it most.
In 2023, ARE helped the NSF open a 19,188-square-foot West Coast WFP facility in San Diego. It features advanced performance and fitness equipment and technology and is staffed by strength and conditioning coaches, performance dietitians, speech-language pathologists, chiropractors, recovery specialists, and cognitive performance experts. It has become a cornerstone of how we care for active duty operators and veterans dealing with the cumulative physical and cognitive toll of years of sustained service.

The WFP provides individualized, multidisciplinary care to active duty SEALs and SWCCs, reservists, transitioning operators, and veterans. After more than two decades of war and high operational tempo, the need for this level of care remains significant. The program addresses chronic injuries, rebuilds performance and confidence, and helps participants restore lasting physical and cognitive health in a supportive, team-based environment.
The demand tells the story. Participation has grown 67% over the past two years, from 206 in 2023 to 344 in 2025. The measured outcomes are equally compelling. In 2024, active duty participants improved cognitive scores by an average of 11.8 points, while veterans improved by an average of 9.8 points. Attendees also reported meaningful improvements in sleep, pain reduction, mobility, concentration, energy, recovery, and overall mental well-being. One active duty SEAL described the program as “the gold standard for modern American healthcare.”
Tony Duynstee, senior vice president at ARE and a veteran Navy SEAL, reflected on the partnership: “The Warrior Fitness Program is delivering truly life-changing outcomes. It helps warriors and veterans heal, recover, perform, and thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally. We are honored to support this mission and deeply grateful to the Navy SEAL Foundation for its remarkable leadership and impact.”
ARE’s commitment to the NSF extends well beyond the WFP. Founder and executive chairman Joel Marcus has served on the NSF board since 2018, received the 2020 Patriot Award in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the Foundation, and chaired the 2017 New York City Benefit.
