The Navy SEAL Foundation is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt, national non-profit charitable foundation. We are audited annually and the final report is posted on the Foundation’s website for public review and publication, as is the annual IRS 990 filing.
We take steps to ensure the programs created are not only needed, but also sustainable. The Foundation positions itself to exist for the longterm. Programs are created with extensive analysis, and we are committed to providing each one as long as needed.
The Foundation’s goal is to provide a network of resources that is purposeful and easily accessible for the NSW force and their families. We seek to create efficiencies while leveraging the experience and resources of other reputable non-profits who are experts in the field.
In 2014, 95 cents of every dollar donated went directly to current of future mission. The Foundation’s programs ratio was 92%. This means that only 8% of total expenses were used for anything other than program costs. Our fundraising efficiency was 1.2% meaning that it cost the Foundation $0.012 to raise $1.00 in 2014.
The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, 84% of which are former or retired SEALs. Our staff is composed of 77% NSW community members and veterans.
